Week 10

Adding a personal touch to a blog for a business is a great way to increase human connection with your customers, however it isn't the right call for every business out there. Some businesses don't have distinct personalities within the business in order to maintain a uniform front, so it wouldn't make sense to share personal details and stories. Other times, like when blogging on behalf of someone else in the company, adding your own personal touch could break up continuity. Blogging for business is especially great if you are the face of your brand. For example, Elon Musk is very much the persona that is "Tesla." If Musk started a blog about his own experiences creating Tesla, it would make perfect sense as the two are so interconnected and he is the public face of the brand.

If you decide that a personal touch to your business' blog is the right move, it's important to understand your target market and the best way to appeal to their emotion through human interest. For example, if your target market is moms, sharing a story about a time you bonded with your own child would likely resonate with them.

Sharing personal experience on your blog can help connect you to your customers in a multitude of ways. It is a great way to showcase your expertise in your business' field and build trust. Blogging gives your business at outlet to demonstrate the passion and enthusiasm that your team has for the work you're doing, and get customers excited about it too. You get the opportunity to create a stronger human connection, and set yourself apart from competition in a saturated market as a brand the customer knows and trusts.

  1. Hi Sierra!

Great point about omitting the personal touch for a business to maintain a uniform front. I never really thought about it that way. Thank you!
